Any pump can power your waterfall, but it's best to get a submersible model designed to run for extended periods of time.
Some pumps are only designed for running 30 minutes out of every 45. But a proper waterfall pump will run for up to 24 hours a day. The next thing to factor in is the expected performance of the pump at the height of your waterfall. Pumps have a "performance curve", which means that when you see a pump rated for say 4,500 litres per hour, you might get 4,500 litres if you're only pumping the water 10 cm higher than the pump, but if you're pumping it up to the top of your 2m high waterfall, you're only likely to get about 2,000 litres per hour.
